Empowering Women and Non-Binary Leaders in AI Governance and Ethics
About WAIGEN
Founded in the United Kingdom, WAIGEN (Women in AI Governance & Ethics Network) is a nonprofit professional network committed to elevating the presence and influence of women and non-binary leaders in the domains of AI governance, policy, and ethics.
WAIGEN was established in response to the pressing need for diversity and responsible leadership in shaping the future of artificial intelligence. Our network brings together professionals, thought leaders, and advocates who are passionate about ensuring AI is developed and governed with fairness, transparency, and human-centric values.
Through a range of advocacy initiatives, knowledge-sharing events, and collaborative projects, WAIGEN provides a supportive platform for its members to build skills, exchange expertise, and contribute to the national conversation on ethical AI.
Guided by a dedicated leadership team, WAIGEN fosters a strong community where members can influence policy, drive positive change, and develop their leadership potential in the evolving landscape of AI.
Our Journey and Milestones
WAIGEN (Women in AI Governance & Ethics Network) was established in 2019 in response to the growing need for diverse voices in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence governance and ethics. Founded by a group of pioneering women and non-binary leaders, WAIGEN set out to create a supportive and influential network dedicated to shaping the future of ethical AI in the UK.
Since its inception, WAIGEN has marked several key milestones. In 2020, the network launched its first nationwide conference, attracting thought leaders and policymakers committed to responsible AI practices. WAIGEN’s policy advocacy efforts have contributed to national discussions on AI regulation, ensuring that ethical considerations remain at the forefront of technological progress.
Over the years, WAIGEN has expanded its reach by hosting regular events, workshops, and mentoring programmes, empowering hundreds of women and non-binary professionals to take on leadership roles in AI governance. Our achievements include forging partnerships with academic institutions, influencing policy development, and fostering a vibrant community dedicated to inclusivity and ethical leadership in AI.
Today, WAIGEN stands as a respected voice in the UK AI community, championing safe, fair, and human-centred AI. Our continued growth is driven by a commitment to advocacy, education, and the belief that diverse leadership is essential for shaping an equitable technological future.
